If you think it is easy to be a good person, you are a fool!
Every day we are thrown into the world of temptation. We are in a land of sin and the more we “develop”, the more sins we create. Everything we do requires good judgement and without a full thought process, one’s intention can be easily driven by greed and fear. If you are not conscious in making decisions or know that your decisions are made through which factors of the brain then you might be fooled by your own emotions.
Men make fewer decisions out of fear and that is easily because women through evolution are more receptive to danger and therefore use more fear for decision making. Whereas men need not be and in the wild, fear makes them weak as they are to protect and fight off enemies and predators. Surely, time and civilization have changed that and men are not used to having matters to fear, and women are not used to not succumbing to fear-based decision making. We are demanding the opposites of both.
Goodness is taught and showed. In the wild, the concept of good and bad does not exist if the population wants to survive. There are only the prey and the predator. There is only fear that drives one to run and the other to hunt.
Society today demands a lot from us. We have to wake up to an alarm to get to work. We don’t have time to think about if the food we eat is nutritious and healthy and good for the environment. Nor can we have the luxury to plant trees and help save the bees. We have become unconscious in the real world because capitalism demands all our attention to work and make money in order to make more money. Wonder why it is hard to do good? We have no time to give!
We want the rich to donate and do more for our environment, not because we don’t want to do it ourselves but you need that privilege to do so. It is a luxury to be good. Of course, that is not to give us the easy way out to be bad but it makes it that even harder to be good. Why is it that the poorest area is full of crimes? It is not because they decided they wanted to be bad, aside from serial killers and psychopaths. People do bad things out of fear and because doing good takes a whole lot of more effort.
That is why goodness has to be taught to children when they HAVE that privilege to still be carefree. So that when they are engulfed in adulthood reality, they have the fundamental basics of goodness to live by.
Let’s strengthen that core every day with the people we love!
