Natural disasters seemed as if it is out of our control. We cannot stop hurricanes or fires. The world is so big that we feel like we have no effect on it. If you’ve believed all this statement to be true then you have forgotten that you have more power in your hands than they make you believe.

Big companies around the world stretch their big arms with big money and flexing it in front of you, making you believe they hold the power. But these companies would be nothing without a large group of people supporting it with the demand for their supply. These big companies would be nothing if we boycott them. All our purchases matter, not just to the CEO that sits in their skyscraper office but to everyone in between and the environment.

You might not be able to stop the hurricane and fires but you surely can prevent manmade disasters from happening. You can start saving the world by simply becoming a conscious consumer.

Have you heard of the child laborers the brand you’ve been using employ? Is there something you could do? Yes, yes you can! Your action can influence so many more people around you and by simply taking a stand and stop buying from these companies you can start a very powerful chain reaction. You hold the power that these companies don’t want you to know you have. Consumers control the chain reaction of every business and it’s time we take that control for good use.

The fires that are burning in the Amazon for months seems like it’s happening so far away that you don’t feel like you’re a part of it but if you look closely, have you ever eat imported meat? People with money who goes to expensive restaurants and order that delicious piece of meat that was flown all the way from the other side of the world for your guilty pleasure, you are the ones who started the fire. We can blame the Brazilian government all we want but these developing countries are simply trying to feed themselves and become the New World like Europe and you (with the money) are buying into it. This problem is not a simple one. It is deeply rooted in society today that does everything for its guilty pleasure.

Everyone wants to be fancy so they could post it on social media and feel like they are making it in the world. We travel for pleasure, eat for pleasure and everything else in between. We have lived so much beyond our necessities that the world is literally paying the price. Yes, pleasure is good, pleasure makes us sleep well at night but pleasure is also slowly killing everything around us. Flights you take emit more carbon dioxide than you can breathe out in a lifetime. The take-out menu you order is supporting the mass production of meat locally and globally. The clothes you wear from fast fashion are employing children around the world to work tirelessly. Food that is not local is importing all its ingredients from around the world and killing off the animals we will need to sustain our ecosystem. Your action matters.

The problem seems vast and it is because it is a trickle effect but it all boils down to one solution, with a simple question, when is it enough? We have to stop living large and think that the world comes with an endless supply of food. We are not in a bottomless well.

And you can think, “I’m not an expert”, “I can’t volunteer and go save the world”. You don’t have to. We have jobs to do, money to make and life to live but how you live life is the most important thing you can do for your world right now. Be enough. Feel enough. Simply be a conscious consumer that is all the world and those little baby seal can ask of you.

Save their world and ours! We thank you in advance… <3
