Admit it that you’ve once stumble upon a Pinterest post on some DIY magic and hoped to have tried it yourself but never ‘gotten the chance’ to. What happened next might go either like “I have to go all the way to the store to grab these? Nope. Quitting!” or “Fun. Let’s do this thing!”
I happened to be enthusiastic enough to go an extra mile to the store for only one reason – I had my lash-extensions done and planned not to do make-up for months. Instantly I discovered an annoying amount of blackheads on my nose and chin. So, in order to go make-up free I had to fix what was bothering me. Obviously, I was lazy to go to the market and get milk, olive oil, gelatin and all but trust me, after finally making up my mind to do it, it was worth the extra walk.
Gelatin (unflavored) with milk.
This won’t completely remove every blackheads on your face but it definitely did the trick by making my skin softer and looked much healthier, even on the first try. The results after doing it for a week, is insanely good. (FYI, make sure to not use chocolate milk, it leaves dark stains on the face for a while)
Honey, brown-sugar and olive oil.
Organic facial scrubs rules. Bye-bye THB 1,000 counter-brand (est. $33). This homemade facial scrub smells good, taste great, although I don’t recommend eating it after the scrub but it’s your life so “you do you, boo” and it is 100% organic (depending on what materials you purchased).
Lime/lemon, vinegar and brown sugar.
This was my mom’s favorite. For those who love to wear heavy make-up, lime and vinegar acts as a great cleanser and sugar exfoliates very well. Do not add too much of lime and vinegar and add water instead to help dilute it. Best to use warm water to mix the two ingredients and add the brown sugar after the mixtures cool down so that the sugar doesn’t melt before getting to your face.
The best thing about going make-up free was that I found out that there was no need to put so much make-up everyday and ruin the skin. We use make-up to cover up the things we dislike about ourselves instead of taking care of it. I still wear make-up once in a while but enabling my skin to breath is a gift to myself.
