Yes, there’s now almost all kinds of self-help guide out there!
Lately, every once in a while, where I have the chance to meet some of my friends the first thing we talk about is how something or someone from work is driving them loco!
So here to you, is the self-calming reminder that it happens to everyone and you are allowed to take a chill pill at the end of the day. That chill pill is of course Vino Tinto…. (take a sip for dramatic effect)
Dealing with people is the hardest thing we human have to go through in life. Because it means dealing with someone else with their own childhood problem, family background, morals, thoughts, ideas and so many more that is probably different from yours. It seems much but it is in fact true. Even if we do not think about those things ourselves when we sit on our desk at work, we are, however, a walking time capsule made of things we’ve collected from the day we are born. It is hard to deal with that even in our own brain, let alone having to deal with another people’s bullshit. But I hate to say that we can never avoid this and we just really, really, really have a self-reminder!
Here’s the trick I use as a self-calming reminder:
Be compassionate and tell yourself “I too shall pass this test!” People have their own problems and it’s not always about you. If you believe that things happen for a reason and there is no coincidence then you know that meeting someone who drives you mental is a test the universe has thrown at you.
Breathe. It is amazing what breathing can do to your brain. When we are frustrated, angry or just pissed off, we often stop breathing or at least it feels like it. Our body is an amazing machine and our brain is like this super genius machine that controls the whole body. So, by telling yourself to breathe is giving the brain the control to once again reset the body back to its neutral state. No wonder meditation is key!
Do something about it! If something is upsetting you then do something about it. There’s no reason to whine and fuzz because you are a grown person and you can take control of any situation. Sometimes it is because you care too much but caring and doing nothing about it will of course frustrate you. So, either be ignorant or actually fix whatever is bothering you or stop whatever it is you’re doing.
Every situation is a lesson and if it keeps repeating itself then you haven’t learnt that lesson. To move pass it is only to master it! So, Keep Calm and Carry on ?
