No, its not about space or AI!
If you are like many people who calls themselves a futurist then here’s a small reminder to you.
It is almost an unconscious behavior we all possess, to be planning and thinking about the future. We have to! Capitalist wires us to plan to buy a house, have retirement plans, college funds for our future kids that we yet to have. There’s so much money to be made and spend even before earning it. We tend to make list in our heads and plan for the future because “you never know”. And that’s the reminder in itself… “YOU NEVER KNOW”!
As much as it scares anybody, when you want to build a life, a home, a better future, we have to make plans and we have to make list and that’s important. But it is also as important to remember that things are bound to change and therefore, plans can always change as well.
We need to learn to be flexible to change. Like an elastic band, the harder you pull, it is bound to snap and break. We need to really understand that nothing is really in our control as much as we want it to be or plan for it to be. That fear of uncertainty keeps many people awake at night. That fear also keeps you from being PRESENT.
The future will come but it hasn’t arrived. Today is the day and the only day that gives hope for the future. Like a plant, if you forget to water it one day, the next day will be drier and harder to survive. Water yourself with (well water, cause we all should drink enough water but with…) love, care and mindfulness. If we take the present for granted, it might not grant you your future.
Life takes us through a journey, and even on a roller coaster when you see the drop coming and remembered the feeling, it will still feel new and emotional… so let it ride!
